Prestige In-Home Care Medication Aide Course Catalog

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

This 40-hour course provides instruction on the five rights of safe medication administration, including accurate and complete documentation, resident rights, and how to administer medications by the following routes: oral, inhalation, topical, and instillation, as well as observing and monitoring for side effects, interactions, and contradictions associated with medications and taking appropriate action. The instructor(s) will assist the students in preparing for each chapter assigned in learning the skills needed to pass the state exam. There will be a vocabulary and knowledge quiz after each chapter to assess students' understanding of the material covered in that section. Quizzes will be graded, and every student must receive a 72% or higher on their final grade as well as demonstrate competency in clinical labs to pass the course. Students can take the final exam up to 3 times. Certificates will be issued upon completion of the 40-hour course and the completed skills lab.

Hybrid: The Certified Medication Aide Hybrid/Blended Course includes 24 hours of online coursework that needs to be completed prior to the start of the in-class skills portion of the course (16 hours in-class) (100% of online coursework must be completed before the start of the classroom session). Students are granted six (6) months of online access beginning on the purchase date. Upon expiration of this period, access will be terminated. Students wishing to re-enroll must repurchase and restart the course in its entirety.

In-person CMA courses are offered twice a month for the Monday-Friday course and once a month for the weekend course throughout the 12-month calendar year.
